Overview of Actions

The Los Gatos Creek Watershed Collaborative is a large-scale partnership in Santa Clara County involving various public and private landownerships to promote ecosystem resilience, mitigate the risk of, and reduce the severity of potential wildfire, while enhancing the safety of the surrounding communities. ARC Forestry has supported several Forest Health Grant application processes that have been awarded over 13 million dollars to the Collaborative to fund planning, CEQA compliance development, and implementation.

Approximately 2,000 acres of priority treatment areas and site-specific prescriptions have been designed by ARC Forestry. Prior to implementation, ARC Forestry has supported coordinating project partners, presenting to the public, negotiating with agencies, supporting the development of multiple CalVTP’s, developing archaeological survey reports, and developing other CEQA exemptions through to approval.

ARC Forestry developed treatment prescription specifications for contracts, conducted bid tours, evaluated bids, supported contractor selection, developed ARC Field Maps for operations following field verification, conducted project layout, and supervised treatment implementation, including winter period monitoring.

ARC Forestry supported un-siloed capacity building for all partners to share our methods with and expand regional capacity through training land stewards and contractors alike.

Treatment Status

Over 1,200 acres of mechanical and manual treatments completed from 2021-2025 that considers forest health, sensitive resources, and the protection of bay area communities. Treatment areas are strategically placed relative to sensitive natural resources and with consideration of how fire moves across the landscape to identify areas that may create opportunity to manage future fires.
